The Model United Nations (MUN) is a prestigious international event where schools from around the world debate and develop solutions to some of today’s most pressing global challenges. Roosevelt High School was privileged to be invited to participate in this incredible experience.
MUN provides young people with a platform to voice their perspectives, engage in diplomacy, and collaborate towards meaningful solutions on international issues.
Roosevelt first participated in the March conference, where Aamirah Watson (Grade 11) proudly won the Best Speaker Award for debates surrounding Cybersecurity in the Age of Digital Warfare.
Roosevelt returned in May and dominated the conference. The Venezuelan-led resolution was successfully adopted, with the delegation consisting of Andre Bekker (Grade 12), Tristan Xu (Grade 12), and Aamirah Watson (Grade 11). Their outstanding performance earned Roosevelt Gold for Best Delegation of the conference.
Roosevelt also secured two of the three individual awards:
🏅 Naayaab Huttus (Grade 10) — Distinguished Delegate
🏅 Caleb Nell (Grade 11) — Best Speaker
The May conference focused on the Security of Maritime Traffic and International Law surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
The conference included opening speeches, formal and informal debates, negotiations, drafting resolutions, voting procedures, and closing speeches from each delegation.
Despite the high level of competition, Roosevelt learners rose to the occasion and showcased exceptional leadership, diplomacy, confidence, and determination.
A huge thank you to all our delegates:
• Lizette and Kendra (Grade 11) — China
• Naayaab and Michaela (Grade 11) — Nigeria
• Caleb (Grade 11) and Patience (Grade 12) — North Korea
• Andre, Tristan, and Aamirah — Venezuela
Thank you to EduFleek for the opportunity to participate.
We are incredibly proud of our learners and the way they represented Roosevelt High School with excellence.

Dear Tourism Parents and Guardians
This message serves as an urgent reminder that all Grade 12 Tourism learners are required to attend the National Tourism PAT on:
📅 Wednesday, 20 May 2026
📅 Thursday, 21 May 2026
⏰ 07:37 – 13:30
Under no circumstances may learners be absent on these two days unless there is a serious medical emergency supported by official documentation.
The Tourism PAT forms a compulsory part of the final National Senior Certificate assessment and contributes significantly towards the learner’s final promotion and certification requirements. Failure to complete the PAT may result in the learner not receiving a final result for Tourism.
Parents are kindly requested to:
• Ensure learners arrive at school at 07h37
• Avoid scheduling appointments, trips, driving lessons, or other activities on these dates
• Encourage learners to attend all mediation/resource sessions arranged by the school
• Ensure learners come prepared with all necessary resources
Your support and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we assist our learners in achieving their very best.
Kind regards
Roosevelt High School
This beautiful little baby wanted to attend school with us today 🐾💙
To ensure that he is safe and cared for, we made the decision to take the doggo to the wonderful team at Greenside Animal Hospital.
If this is your fur baby, please contact or visit the hospital directly. We hope to reunite this sweetheart with their family soon 🐶🏡
